Insurance law specialist HBA Legal has appointed Chris Murphy to found its first Queensland office in Brisbane. Former BTLawyers Partner Mr Murphy has a strong background in public liability, workers’ compensation and professional indemnity litigation as well as practice management experience from Maurice Blackburn.
HBA’s professional indemnity capability is further bolstered with the appointment of former DLA Piper Senior Associate James Baird to Partner in the firm’s Sydney office (January 2016), reinforcing the practice area led by Mark Birbeck in Perth.
HBA’s managing partner Brett Ablong attributes HBA’s rapid growth to its evolved practice style. “Strengthening our East coast presence with the new Brisbane office responds to increasing demand for our innovative style of practice,” he said.
“Clients, particularly in the public liability area, are pushing for us to have a presence in more cities to fortify our partnership with them.”
