Experience

Megan has over 15 years’ experience, with a background in public and product liability, professional indemnity, contractual and indemnity disputes.

Joining HBA in 2020, following stints with HWL Ebsworth and Carter Newell, Megan is highly experienced in various jurisdictions across Australia.  She has also practised in the United Kingdom, where she successfully defended public liability and high value recovery claims on behalf of various UK government sectors.

Megan’s experience spans a wide range of industries, including retail, energy and mining, labour hire, transport and aviation, property management, childcare centres, and horse racing. Her extensive experience allows her to provide tailored legal solutions for each client.

Megan was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2008 and the High Court of Australia in 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce from Griffith University, completing her studies in 2007.

 

Expertise

As a specialist in defending public liability claims, Megan represents major insurers, self-insurers, and large Australian companies. She has extensive knowledge of the application of the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002 (Qld), Civil Liability Act 2003 (Qld) and Regulations.

Megan’s approach focuses on delivering excellent outcomes through sound advice and effective representation, all while maintaining strong and collaborative client relationships. She provides advice on a range of insurance issues, risk management, and strategies for achieving cost-effective resolutions. Megan is particularly skilled in managing complex multi-party claims, coordinating technical investigations and collaborating with multiple parties and experts.

She is a strong advocate of alternative dispute resolution methods and consistently achieves optimal outcomes for her clients through informal settlement negotiations, settlement conferences and mediations.
