Emily is one of HBA’s resident experts across workplace relations, industrial relations and general employment law.
For the past decade she has been providing clients with strategies and outcomes for issues related to all aspects of workplace relations law including discrimination, bullying and harassment, industrial relations, compliance, investigations, dismissals and employment litigation.
Emily brings significant experience in disciplinary process and dismissals, dismissal disputes (including unfair dismissal, general protections and discrimination), post-employment restraints and obligations, plus equal opportunity, discrimination and sexual harassment matters.
She is a member of the Industrial Relations Society of Victoria, as well as the Law Institute of Victoria. Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts (2010) and Bachelor of Laws (2010), both from Deakin University.
Emily works with clients across a range of industries from manufacturing, construction, tourism and hospitality, through to transport and energy, food and beverage, not-for-profit, mining and professional services.
Her expertise includes (but is not limited to) workplace agreements; award interpretation; bullying and harassment; workplace investigations; transfer of business; restructuring and redundancy; and defending workplace prosecutions.
Emily regularly collaborates with advisors including independent investigators, recruitment agencies and EAP providers.
She has significant court and hearing experience representing clients in conciliations at the Australian Human Rights Commission, the Victorian Equal Opportunity Human Rights Commission, and the Fair Work Commission. She also regularly represents clients in general protections matters and mediations in the Federal Circuit Court and the Federal Court, as well as workplace related litigious matters in various Australian legal jurisdictions.
