Claire joined HBA in 2012 with a background in commercial law as well as contracts and procurement.
Claire advises self-insured licensees and third party claims managers, often involved at the pre-litigation stage and when matters proceed to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal or Federal Court. Over the years she has provided advice and assistance to insurers and self-insured companies across a range of matters involving WA workers’ compensation, public liability and federal workers’ compensation. Since 2016, Claire has practiced almost exclusively in the federal workers’ compensation space.
A top of class student at Notre Dame University (Bachelor of Laws), she twice achieved Letter of Commendation from the Dean. Claire also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Politics and International Relations) from the University of Notre Dame and was admitted to legal practice in 2011.
Claire’s expertise lies in developing strategic approaches to difficult and complex claims, and dealing with challenging claimants. She provides strategic advice on claims management, vocational rehabilitation, dispute resolution options and general litigation, which maintains a focus on commercial considerations and the obligations of her clients under the federal workers’ compensation scheme.
Claire frequently presents at a range of industry seminars on topics that encourage clients to think innovatively about the way they approach each stage of the claims process.
