Chris joined HBA in early 2016 to found its Brisbane office. Admitted to practice in 2005, he has built a reputation as one of the country’s best public liability lawyers (both personal injury and property damage), and is also recognised for his expertise in workers’ compensation law.

Chris is a Queensland Law Society (QLS) accredited specialist in personal injuries and, as a member of the QLS Accident Compensation/Tort Law committee, he stays at the cutting edge of tort law that may affect his clients.

Areas of expertise

Chris manages a large volume of public liability and workers’ compensation claims. His extensive claims experience spans most areas of the economy including retail, health/aged care, manufacturing, mining, sport/recreation and transport.

He has a significant interest in the aged care sector acting for two of Queensland’s self-insured aged care employers for several years and developing an intimate understanding of the industry. Chris’ experience acting for plaintiffs gives him a sound understanding of the commercial reality of plaintiff law firms (and plaintiff psychology) – he can identify resolution strategies which meet the commercial needs of his clients. He also has a sound understanding of the service that insurer and large corporate clients need from their lawyers, having worked in-house for a national self-insured.

Why clients like him

Clients enjoy a dedicated litigator, a personal relationship, and a pragmatic approach to claims management.  Identifying with his clients, Chris combines his experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to deliver astute resolution strategies for consistently outstanding results (which include far shorter durations and significantly lower settlement outcomes than panel averages).
